CICATRIZ ~ Terra Batida School

An eco-disoriented study space
A school for learning from ghosts and wounds

Bringing together the confluence of multidisciplinary knowledge that the Terra Batida [Earthways] platform has been practising over the last few years, CICATRIZ — Terra Batida School combines practices and poetics to inspire collective forms of resistance and reconciliation with a changing world.

In this space for collective study, attentive to the scars that result from historical structural wounds and/or that document inter-species cooperation, the group of participants is invited to take part in activities of reflection, practice and enjoyment that weave new gestures and sensorialities to interact with our surroundings. Crossing the knowledge of the body with the perspectives addressed by the intersectionality of environmental humanities, CICATRIZ — Terra Batida School proposes new modes of critical cohabitation, inspired by the collaborative solidarity between different ways of living.

The first edition of the programme, curated by Ritó Natálio and Margarida Mendes, took place between 13 and 19 September 2025 at Espaço Parasita, with the participation of Olivier Marboeuf, the Landra collective, Karen Shiratori, Margarida Mendes, Joana Levi, Amador Alina Folini, PROTESTO EXISTENCIAL (Silvio Lang, Quillen Mut, Ritó Natálio, Amador Alina Folini), Ritó Natálio and AFRONTOSAS.

The second edition, curated by Ritó Natálio, returns to Espaço Parasita between 17 and 20 September 2026 and brings together a range of voices spanning decolonial ecology, expanded choreography, experimental cinema, speculative fiction and Afro-diasporic knowledge: Valentina Desideri, Cinema Fulgor/Sílvia das Fadas, Pedro Barbosa and Ritó Natálio.
