Troca o Passo, 2024

The expression “troca o passo” is used to indicate the second part of a date without a defined year (…one thousand six hundred and troca o passo). The expression can also be used literally and means changing feet, to align or misalign the step with another person.

After “Trolaró”, “Troca o Passo” is the second duet that Ana Rita Teodoro and João dos Santos Martins develop as a pretext to research and recycle themselves as artist-dancers detached from the idea of a project.

Walking is the present trace of a story that has already begun, the blossoming and disappearance of a form in progress. Is it possible to move forward while maintaining a relationship with black holes in history? The elliptical curves of the world suck us into the archaeological record. We move forward and back, we pick up pace and we are late, we run and we are ahead, we stop but we keep going.

A duet walking with butoh.
