Ayvy Ypy / The origins of language
Short film made with Alberto Alvares The film “Ayvy Ypy” / “Origin of the Language” by Alberto Álvares and Rita Natálio was shot at the Rio Silveiras Indigenous Village on the coast of São Paulo. The film is part of an installation entitled “Fossil”, where language crosses different scales and is exposed to sabotage.
Alberto Álvares is an indigenous Guarani Nhandewa filmmaker, born in the Porto Lindo village, Mato Grosso do Sul. He is an actor, teacher and translator of Guarani.
The project was comissioned by the exhibition “Farsa – Língua, fratura e ficção: Brasil-Portugal”at Sesc Pompeia Brasil. Curatorship: Marta Mestre. Curatorship Assistance: Pollyana Quintela
