Trolaró is a collaboration between choreographers and dancers Ana Rita Teodoro and João dos Santos Martins. The performance dwells in schemes of soft machines, where automated, programmed and mechanical behavior become smooth, vegetal and alive. Movements are synchronised to sounds produced live as if a robot became a plant or an animal. In Portuguese, trolaró is a word to express foolishness or to troll without discipline, responsibility or care for the consequences. In this piece, control and uncontrol, rigidity and smoothness are put to the test as a repercussion of the performers entering consumptive altered states.
