“To ask what to create means is not the same as asking what it means to create. And since these two questions are much mistaken for one another, it is common that creation is equated with the satisfaction of a meaning or identity. In face of the state of things to which such assumption has brought us, and in face of the corresponding exhaustion of volition as a manner of ordering the world, it matters to say that it is sensible and intelligent to give up foresight and control as prevalent ways of relating to alterity.
